On May 19, 2025, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) officially announced that the last date for submitting applications for the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme Phase IV has been extended from May 20 to June 1, 2025. As a result of this extension, students have been provided with an additional 12 days, through which they can easily prepare all the necessary documents and complete their application.
Which Students Are Eligible For This Scheme?
To ensure transparency in the system, the Government of Pakistan has set strict eligibility criteria for participating in the PM Laptop Scheme. - Must be admitted to a public sector university or a degree-awarding institution approved by HEC.

- A minimum 2.80 CGPA or 60% marks in the recent examinations.
- For first-year bachelor’s students, the HSSC result must be provided.
- MS or PhD first-semester students must submit the transcript of their previous degree.
- Students who have completed graduation will not be eligible for this scheme.
Quota Details
The government has ensured that the distribution of laptops is fair and equitable. The following quotas have been earmarked in the scheme:
- An 18% quota has been allocated for students from Balochistan so that the youth from backward areas also get equal opportunities.
- There is a 5% quota reserved for distance learning students, which will be divided into two institutions:
- Virtual University
- Allama Iqbal Open University
