What is a PMT score?

First of all, it is important to understand what a PMT score actually is. The PMT score is a method by which the government assesses the economic condition of households. This score is given taking into account household income, resources, education, vehicle or property ownership, children’s education, and other factors.

The higher the score, the better off the family is. And the lower the score, the more deserving the family is.

Which women are being excluded from the program?

According to the new BISP policy:

All women whose PMT score exceeds 32 are now being disqualified from any assistance program, including the Kafalat program. The aim of this decision is to replace those who have improved financially with more needy and deserving people. This time, about 3.5 million women are being excluded from the program. Most of them are women whose scores no longer meet the current standards.

Which women have been exempted?

However, BISP has also made some humanitarian concessions in this decision, so that those who are truly deserving are not affected:

Widows:

  • If a woman is a widow, then the PMT score limit has been relaxed for her.
  • Widows whose score has reached 36 will not be declared ineligible.
  • She will continue to receive financial assistance.

Households with disabled persons:

  • If any member of a woman’s household is disabled, or the woman herself suffers from any disability,
  • then such women will still remain part of the program even if their score goes up to 36.
  • This concession is especially for those households that face severe difficulties in meeting their basic needs.

What are the immediate measures for affected women?

Here are some guidelines for women who have been disqualified under this decision:

If your PMT score has exceeded 32 and you are not widowed or disabled, you may not be included in the next installment. BISP is informing these women through a clear notification or SMS. If you suspect that your name has been removed or deducted, you can contact the 8171 web portal or the nearest BISP office. For more information or to file a complaint, you can also call the Benazir Complaint Helpline 0800-26477.

Let me tell you one more thing here: currently the BISP 8171 web portal is temporarily closed, so currently the eligibility information cannot be obtained through it. Because the data of the women who have been disqualified has not been updated on the web portal yet, as soon as the web portal is restored, the data of these women will also be updated on the web portal, and then such women will be able to obtain information about their eligibility sitting at home.

Golden opportunity for deserving women

After this new update of BISP, there is a new opportunity for women who could not become a part of the BISP 8171 program earlier due to some reason. Therefore, such women who are forced to live below the poverty line and think that their PMT score is below the level of 32 should immediately go to their nearest BISP tehsil office today and complete their survey registration process. Because, as I told you people, BISP is going to remove thirty-five lakh women from the program this year, and new eligible women will be made part of the program in their place. Therefore, if such women complete their registration process on time, then these women will definitely be included in the program instead of these thirty-five lakh ineligible women.

Conclusion

Although this new policy of BISP may be unpleasant for some women, its main purpose is to make the program transparent and effective. The government wants that financial assistance reaches only those people who are truly deserving of it. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of every individual to keep their information correct, complete the survey on time and if they are really deserving, then register. We hope this information will be beneficial to you, and that you will be able to make the right decisions for yourself or a deserving individual.
