This news is really good news for farmers. The Punjab government has officially launched the Green Tractor Scheme Phase 2, and its registration has also started from 14 August 2025. I personally believe that this scheme is not just a subsidy but a golden opportunity for farmers – because in today’s expensive era, buying agricultural equipment, especially tractors, is not something that the average farmer can afford.

Background – Why is this scheme necessary?

If you work in the fields, or have ever spent time in the village, then you would know that a tractor is not just a machine, it is the most valuable companion of the farmer. Be it plowing, wheat harvesting or applying fertilizer, a tractor is at the forefront of every task. But the problem is that in the last few years, the prices of tractors have started to touch the sky.

I have personally seen that many farmers drive old tractors only because they cannot afford to buy a new one. In such a situation, this step of the Punjab government is really commendable that it is giving a direct subsidy of up to Rs 1 million.

Registration Process

• At first, people think that the registration process will be long and tedious, but here the matter is relatively easy.
• You just have to go to gts.punjab.gov.pk and fill the online application form.
• Upload the required documents and information.
• After the application is complete, there will be a scrutiny process so that only deserving farmers can benefit.
• Successful applicants will be allotted a tractor with subsidy.
• And yes, you can also take help from the village CSC center or the nearest Agriculture Office to fill the form, so that if you have difficulty working online, there will be no problem.

My personal opinion

When Phase 1 came last year, I saw in my area that the condition of many farmers changed. Earlier, they were tired of spending on old tractors, but after getting new tractors under this scheme, their production also increased and time was also saved.

One thing is for sure – not everyone gets the opportunity to get the subsidy because the selection is done on lottery or merit. So if you are a farmer, don’t delay in applying. After all, a subsidy of Rs. 10 lakh is not available every day!
