To fulfill this very dream, the Punjab government has launched the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program. And the good news is that its new registration phase has opened in August 2025.

Why is this program special?

It is simple: this is the largest interest-free house finance program in the history of Pakistan. That is, you will get a loan to build or buy a house, but you will not have to pay interest. Here the government itself is stepping forward and helping.

Who can apply?

Here are the conditions, and they are quite logical so that the really needy can benefit:

  • The applicant must have a permanent Punjab identity card.
  • The house or plot of land should be between 1 and 10 marla.
  • There should be no existing house or plot in the name of both the applicant and the spouse.

  • The house or plot should be residential, not commercial.

  • First, visit the Punjab government website acag.punjab.gov.pk.
  • Fill out the online form and upload all the required documents.
  • Once the form is complete, your application will be reviewed.
  • Once approved, you will be disbursed the loan amount.
  • Keep one thing in mind here: the paperwork must be complete and correct. Even a small mistake can make you go through the process again (we all know this happens often).

Loan Details

Now the most interesting part – money talk:

  • The loan is completely interest-free.
  • The maximum loan limit is Rs. 15 lakh.
  • The repayment period will be a maximum of 15 years.
  • The monthly installment will be around Rs. 14,285.

And most importantly, this installment can also be flexible as per your ability.

To be honest, when I first heard about this scheme, I thought it would be another long-winded government scheme that would remain in the files. But then a close friend told me that he had applied in the previous phase and is now paying installments. Hearing this, I also became convinced that some people are really taking advantage of it.
