While the present Punjab govt under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched several welfare schemes, the “CM Solar Panel Scheme 2025” is a prominent and practical initiative. Roshan Gharana Program
The project has been named “Roshan Gharana Program”, which has been launched to provide free solar energy to low-income households across the province of Punjab. The program was launched in early 2025, and the first batch of solar panels was delivered to Punjab in February.
According to updates issued by the government, the process of providing solar systems to more than 94,000 households was to be completed by May. Currently, 50,000 households are being covered under the first phase of the program under a budget of Rs. 12.6 billion.
Recent Updates – Status as of June 2025
As of June 2025, the program has completed several important stages:
- The lottery of applicants was completed in early May.
- The process of physical verification of selected individuals is underway.
- The installation process has begun in late May.
- The installation is likely to be completed by the end of July 2025.
- According to preliminary data, 57,000 tons of carbon emissions have been reduced through the scheme so far.
- This is not only an eco-friendly step but also a major financial relief for the residents of Punjab.
Who is eligible?
The following conditions have been set to join the CM Solar scheme:
- Monthly electricity consumption should be 200 units or less.
- The holder of a valid CNIC should be a permanent resident of Punjab.
- The applicant should not have availed any government solar scheme earlier.
- Duplicate or false entries will be rejected.
These conditions have been put in place so that only deserving and honest families can avail the benefits of this scheme.
How to check the status of the application?
The government has provided three different easy ways to check the status of your application:
Online Method
- Visit the website: https://cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk
- Enter your CNIC and check the status.
By SMS
- SMS your National Identity Card number to 8800.
Contact by phone
- If internet is not available, call the helpline 0800-098098.
These facilities have been introduced especially keeping in mind the people of rural areas so that no one is left out of the information.
What will you get?
Selected eligible applicants will be given a complete solar kit which will include:
- Solar panels
- Inverters
- Batteries
- Required installation equipment
Also, each system will be linked to the applicant’s ID card number to prevent any misuse.
What if not selected this time?
If your application is not selected at this stage, do not despair. The government has announced that this scheme will be implemented in phases, and more families will be included in the coming months. Priority will be given to rural areas and families that were previously neglected.
