If you know someone in a village who has been farming other people’s land their whole life and never had anything to show for it, this scheme is directly for them. The Punjab government has finally put something together that addresses the actual root of the problem, not just the surface of it.

The scheme was officially approved on January 23, 2026 and covers all 36 districts of Punjab. A total of 50,000 landless farmers will receive government owned agricultural land. Each selected farmer can also get an interest free loan of up to Rs. 50,000 for seeds, fertilizer, and other basic farming inputs. Registration is completely free and the approval process takes 15 to 30 days after physical verification.

  • Bank loan defaulters cannot apply
  • Applicants must show basic farming knowledge or experience
  • Both men and women can apply and the government encourages women farmers through a special quota

  • After submission, local offices conduct physical verification through the Patwari or AC office
  • After verification, approval usually takes 15 to 30 days
  • Applicants receive a confirmation SMS once verification completes
